Q: What format is best for your workshop?
A: I can work within any format. I've done 1,2,3,4 and 5 day workshops with session lengths of 45, 60, 90 minutes and 3 hours.

Q: What is your preferred size of class?
A: I've had everywhere from 6 to 400 in a class!  Ideally, my favorite size is about 12-15 per class
though I routinely have classes of 20-25 kids,
if it gets bigger than 25 it changes the types of activities that we can do.
I've developed a series of "large group" activities which have worked quite well with big groups.

Q: Are the classes mixed instrument?
A: ABSOLUTELY!  One of the great things about IJAM is that violin, viola, cello, piano, guitar, etc.
students get to have the class together.

Q: What if we don't want to mix instrument groups?
A: That works well too, and enables me to tailor the session to one particular instrument.

Q: Are the classes only for instrumentalists?
A: No. IJAM is good for non-instrumentalists too.

Q: Are the classes grouped by age or level or a combination of both?
A: If it's a Suzuki workshop/Institute, it's best to group the classes by LEVEL.
If it's a school assembly, age and level don't apply.

Q: Is there a particular age group/level that you prefer?
A: No. I've worked equally well with advanced high school instrumentalists
and young Kindergartners.

Q: How do you handle a school assembly?
A: I've conducted hour-long IJAM assemblies for an entire K-5 elementary school, as well as just for selected grades.

Q: What are your equipment needs?
A: I bring everything with me. If I'll be using a projector, I just need a screen or a wall on which to project.

Q: And room size restrictions?
A: Bigger is better. I like to have the kids move around as much as possible. The more space the better it is for everyone.
